I know we still have a few weeks away, but I thought I would share a little early on goods in the Easter world.
Remember last year when I made my 12 Eggs for the "Easter Story", and stored them in this
Lovely old oatmeal container? Well this year, I finally decorated it,
Somewhat, I think it still needs something, but what I did here was add pictures of Christ from old church magazines. Maybe I will still add more to it, we'll see, but at least for now it no longer looks edible!
Then this year I also ventured into making a new wreath. It is finally getting warm here and it felt right to change my old winter wreath for something that said "happy spring" is here!
This was a very simple wreath, and I was able to scrounge items from around the house and didn't need to buy anything, which is always a great feeling!
The "J" for Jacob, is just card stock paper, I just free-handed and cut, but if you are worried about making it not straight or uneven, I am sure you could type and print a more accurate letter, and if you wanted it still to be white, then reverse the letter on your computer, print, and cut out, using the backside of the paper (so it is white not black). Then from my earlier egg project, I had a bunch of leftover eggs, that I simple hot glued, along with little beads, and excess flowers.
To give you an idea of what it is all supported on (again, sorry for not taking better before and process of pictures, I really should just glue my camera to one hand so that it is always by me and I won't forget to take more pics!!) The circular shape is half of a large poster board, and also free handed the shape that I wanted, if you wanted a more definite round shape you could probably use a large mixing bowel, or a bucket as a guide to trace with.
Then the leaves are a strand of fun leafy garland (I bought it at a dollar store many years ago, but I am sure you could find one similar there as well) that I staggered and tapped onto the paper, and you can kind of see the tape on the back. I also wrapped the leaves and everything with a little tightening touch of ribbon to help hold it all together.
The little beads are these fun foam ball things. I am not entirely sure what they are called, even where you can buy them since I was given them a while back by someone who didn't know what to do with them. But not to leave you hanging, I am ALMOST positive you could find them at an sort of craft store, like Porters, or Michael's, and maybe even Joann's. They add a nice touch of fun color and feeling of "spring"!
So I spread their "fun" a little more, but adding them to my white stick vases. and maybe if I feel a little more ambitious I might glue some of them on the sticks to make it look like little buds. We'll see.
Then in my own searches of fun Easter sort of activities, I found these various websites that have great ideas of things you can do with old plastic eggs, or just Easter things in general. It is such a special time of year, I want to make it fun and special for my little family.
And last but not least, a touch of a great video, about what our Savior did, which I think it is a great thing to remember this time of year, this Easter season.

The wonderful Easter holiday is just around the corner so I thought I would share a little fun Easter activity that you could quickly put together before Easter or save it for a fun project in preparation for next year. We made this last year AFTER Easter because the supplies were TONS cheaper with the after holiday sales. I have seen this done lots before by others and done in so many different ways, but thought I would share anyway. For each egg we had a scripture relate to the item as you'll see below. You are welcome to use these same if you want to make your own too. Here is what I got:

Our goal this Easter is to actually decorate the outside of the container- something a little more representative of Christ
I numbered 12 eggs, and got this fun grass to go with it- I don't remember exact numbers on the prices for this, but I do remember them being LOTS cheaper because we got them a few days after Easter
1. Sacrament Cup; Matthew 26:39
And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."
2. Pieces of Silver: Matthew 26:14-15
Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said unto them, "What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you?" And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. This fulfilled the prophecy in Zechariah 11:12-14 that Jesus would be sold for 30 pieces of silver.
3. Piece of Rope: Matthew 27:1-2
When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
4. Piece of Soap: Matthew 27: 24-26
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.” Then answered all the people, and said, "His blood be on us, and on our children." Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
5. Piece of Red Cloth: Matthew 27: 28-30
And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
6. Nails and Cross: Matthew 27: 31-32
And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him. And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross. [And he was nailed to the cross, and crucified.]
7. Dice: Mark 15: 24
And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, ...
8. Jagged Rocks: Matthew 27: 50-51, 54
Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God."
9.Piece of White Cloth Matthew 27: 57-60
When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple: He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock:
10. Round Flat Rock: Matthew 27: 60, 62, 65-66
And he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate... Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
11. Spices: Mark 16:1, Matthew 28: 2, 5
And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had brought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. And the angel answered and said unto the women, "Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified."
12. Empty: Matthew 28: 6
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said...
Like I mentioned earlier, this is pretty common, so if you want to make one of your own too, this one isn't the only way for doing it, but just thought I'd share what we put together. Hope you have a Happy Easter this year!
