As mentioned in the last post, my little bro is graduating from high school this week! How time flies, especially since now it is this week! As a little continuation of graduation sort of stuff I thought I would show a little on how to make a "graduation candy necklace"- in case you ever wanted to know how (not that you couldn't figure it out, cuz they are super easy) or if you haven't ever heard of them, then here is a little intro.
I don't know how common these sort of these things are, but growing up, at my high school, it was so cool and popular to get one of these things at your graduation, so I thought it would only be fitting to make one for my little brother this week.
First off I got some candy (or in this case, candy I already had on hand- some root beer barrels), it doesn't really matter what kind you use- its all good! :)
Then I laid them out to get an idea how many I would need, this step probably isn't really that important, but I did it just to make sure I'd have enough candy! Then I rolled out a long roll of plastic wrap (really long as in probably about 3 feet or so, you might also be able to get plastic wrap in different colors other than clear- that could make it all the more fun!). Then I put in one candy (you could do more if you want too), wrapped it the plastic and then tied both ends around it like below (I used string here, but you could use ribbon, especially maybe the colors of school they are graduating from)
Then I just kept tying more and more off till I got the desired length, then I over lapped the plastic and tied it off to make it a complete circle, making a lovely candy necklace!
My husband modeling it off for you to see how lovely and yummy it can be! :)
It isn't much I know, but it can be a simple, yummy way to say "Hey congrats buddy!!" It can also be fun for them to wear if they didn't get to wear any fancy recognition award type things (like top 10% or honor roll or something like that), with this fancy necklace you can award them with your love!
Anyway, that's all I have for today on this lovely Money Saving Monday! I will have this weeks We-flecting Wednesday feature tomorrow since I will be busy the rest of the week with family/graduation stuff, and then I wont post on Friday- sorry! But I hope you have a great rest of the day!
Until next time!.....
